We’re the Camara family. Based in Montréal, we were looking for a simple way to unplug for a weekend. Québec City was the obvious choice… and the Taste Trail on Île d’Orléans was a real favorite.
With our two kids (8 and 11), we wanted something easy, enjoyable, and different. From the very start, we left the city behind and stepped into a peaceful setting, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and views of the St. Lawrence River.
Every stop was a surprise.
At the nougat shop, it was pure joy for the kids. Nougat in five or six different flavors, pastel colors everywhere… a warm little store where everything makes you want to taste. We didn’t know where to look first.
Then the Bilodeau cider house. Wow. Everything was delicious, but the apple butter… an absolute favorite. Rich, flavorful, comforting, a true local product just the way we like it.
At Domaine Sainte-Famille, the pace changed. We slowed down. Sitting in the orchard, in the shade of the trees, it was calm, beautiful, almost perfect. A moment out of time.
And to finish, the Vinaigrerie du Capitaine. An unexpected discovery. Incredibly refined products, unlike anything you find at the grocery store. The owner trained in Europe and you can feel it: his vinegars are complex, balanced, exceptional.
What marked us most, beyond the tastings, was the simplicity. Everything is smooth, well organized, stress-free. You just follow along, enjoy… and savor.
For us, that day on Île d’Orléans will remain one of the best moments of our stay in Québec City.
A perfect way to discover Québec’s terroir… as a family.
